A local court in Islamabad on Wednesday granted bail to Samina Shah, the mother of prime accused Shahnawaz Amir, in Sarah Inam's murder case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Announcing the verdict reserved earlier in the day, Additional Sessions Judge Sheikh Muhammad Suhail granted the post-arrest bail and directed Samina Shah to submit surety bond of one million rupees.

Earlier, Samina Shah along with her lawyer, investigating officer, and lawyer for the accused, appeared before the court in Islamabad. Additional sessions judge Sohail reserved the decision after hearing arguments from both sides.

The lawyer for the accused said, “Samina Shah informed the police about the incident and fully cooperated with them in the investigation of Sarah Inam’s murder.”

“The accused did not commit any crime, nothing was recovered from her,” he added.

Lawyer for the complainant Rao Abdul Rahim opposed the bail plea of Samina Shah, contending: “The Constitution of Pakistan mandates every citizen to report a crime to the police.”

“The accused was present at the scene but was not the first person to inform the police,” he added. Abdul Rahim added, as per records, the accused knew that the deceased was present at home.”

The lawyer for the complainant also stated that the records were evidently portraying that the deceased was kept at home against her will.

However, the court reserved its decision on the bail application of Samina Shah.
