Expressing its dismay over the progress being made on different projects under the incumbent government, the members of a parliamentary panel said the CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) had been left as an orphan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

A meeting of Senate Special Committee on CPEC, chaired by Senator Sherry Rehman, said neither gas nor electricity had so far been provided to the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) established at Bostan – a town located in Pishin district, some 30 kilometres from Quetta city.

No fund was allocated for the Bostan SEZ in budget, said the committee members who added that the CPEC projects were being delayed.

They said there had been no communication between the Centre and the provinces on CPEC, adding that disinformation was spread about the projects under the venture.

Speaking on the occasion, Senator Sherry said the Bostan SEZ did not even exist and imaginary progress was shown about the economic corridor.

Senator Mir Kabir said the people of Balochistan had been deceived on the issue of Bostan SEZ, while Senator Asad Ashraf remarked that the CPEC projects should not run through social media.

On the other hand, Senator Javed Abbasi called for appointing a federal minister as the CPEC Authority chairman.
