Defence Ministry declares disassociation from ex-servicemen’s organization

The Ministry of Defence on Friday declared its disassociation from ex-servicemen's organizations like Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society and Veterans of Pakistan.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the Ministry of Defence has issued a clarification regarding the Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society and Veterans of Pakistan.
In the clarification, it is stated that the Ministry of Defence does not recognize or endorse the activities of such organizations.
The Ministry of Defence spokesman said that the charitable purposes of these organizations, aid to the flood victims and public service have nothing to do with the Ministry as these organizations were not recognized even by the armed forces.
The spokesman said that the claims of these ex-servicemen's organizations supporting or recognizing the armed forces are also untrue as the armed forces neither recognize nor allow such societies.
The spokesman said that the Ministry has clear guidelines on the affairs of ex-servicemen's societies and already formulated comprehensive policy guidelines in this regard.
The same policy is also available in the office of the Ministry of Defence, Government of Pakistan for future consultation and guidance, the spokesman said adding that violation of this policy and rules will be a punishable offence.
The Ministry of Defence spokesperson further stated that any organization of persons not complying with the guidelines of the policy shall be guilty, subject to penal consequences.
