10 new police stations to be set up to curb crime rate in Lahore

The Punjab police authorities have decided to establish 10 new police stations in Lahore to curb crime rate in the city, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


Ten police check posts of the city will be shifted to new police stations in the city. The DIG Operations has sought suggestions from the divisional SPs for the purpose.


According to the plan, the Nishtar Colony and Factory Area police stations will be merged to form the Punjab Society police station. Additionally, the Baghbanpura area will be bifurcated to create Shahid Sahaheed Police Station.


It has been recommended to change Sher Shah police post situated in the limits of Chohang police station into a formal police station.


It has been decided to convert Jia Bagga police check post of Shahdara Police Station and Sooay Asal and Halloki police check posts of Kahna Police Station into police stations.


Further recommendations include converting the Begumkot check post of Shahdra police station and Rakh Chadrai check post into full-fledged police stations.


The police aauthorities believe that dividing the large police stations according to the population density is crucial for curbing the crime rate.


Currently, the city has 84 police stations across six divisions, according to police officials.
