Khalid Jawed Khan new AGP

The government has appointed Barrister Khalid Jawed Khan new Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) after Anwar Mansoor Khan tendered resignation.
The federal cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair took the decision in Islamabad on Thursday.
Federal Law Minister Farogh Naseem, Special Assistant to PM Shahzad Akbar, Babar Awan and Barrister Ali Zafar attended the meeting.
The prime minister said the government believes in the rule of law and independent judiciary.
According to 24newshd.tv, senior jurists Makhdoom Ali Khan and Naeem Bokhari have declined to become AGP.
Barrister Khan becomes the 33rd top law officer for the government.
Having two-decade of excellence in taxation, service and civil matters, the son of PPP leader ND Khan had served as adviser to attorney general, Sindh advocate general, legal adviser to ex-PM Benazir Bhutto.
He did LLB from London, BCL from University of Oxford and LLM from Harvard University and completed Bar at Law from Lincoln’s Inn.
Barrister Khan started practicing law at Sindh High Court in 1991 and became a lawyer at Supreme Court in 2004. Barrister Khan played a pivotal part in fight for independent judiciary in Gen (r) Musharraf rule.
