Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz Sharif, while sharing the statement of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) about the NA-75 by-election fiasco, commented, “Today we know what is mafia and how it works,” reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a tweet uploaded on Saturday, Maryam Nawaz said, “Not only the vote was stolen but even the ECP’s staff was abducted.” 

The ECP in its press release hinted at weaknesses of the administration and of the law-enforcement personnel which led to violence and irregularities in the NA-75 by-election Sialkot-IV (Daska).

The ECP said that results of NA-75 by-election Sialkot-IV (Daska) were received after unnecessary delays and all its attempts to contact the presiding officers, in the meanwhile, were not successful.

“The ECP’s chief election commissioner tried to contact the Punjab inspector general of police (IGP), commissioner and deputy commissioner but got no response,” the ECP statement reads.

On the other hand, Federal Science Minister Fawad Chaudhry demanded ECP to issue the results of NA-75 immediately. He congratulated the PTI candidate Ali Asjad Malhi on winning the battle of NA-75.

“PTI workers should be tested as we will respect the law but not the N (PML-N league),” the federal minister said in a tweet.
