Pakistani rupee sheds more value against rampant US dollar

The Pakistani rupee went down against the US dollar for the fifth consecutive day in interbank trading on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

As per the State Bank of Pakistan, the local currency depreciated 0.47 percent against the US dollar and ended the day at Rs285.15, down by Rs1.35 paisas.

On Wednesday, the Pakistani rupee again suffered a loss against the US dollar for the fourth straight session, depreciating by 0.27% to settle at 283.80 in the interbank market.

The main reason behind the rupee depreciation despite IMF loan deal is the raging demand for the greenback.

In a related development, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Ishaq Dar has told the Asian Development Bank (ADB) delegation that the government remained committed to completing International Monetary Fund (IMF) 9-month Stand-By Agreement (SBA).
