UAE President Sheikh Mohammed joins US-led Board of Peace

United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has accepted an invitation from US President Donald Trump to join the newly established “Board of Peace,” 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday. 

According to a statement by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the board, launched under Trump’s leadership, aims to oversee international peace initiatives, with a particular focus on the implementation of the 20-point Gaza peace plan proposed by the US.

UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed described the decision as a reflection of the board’s significance in ensuring the realization of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

According to international reports, the board’s charter sets a maximum membership term of three years, subject to renewal with the approval of the chairman.

While initially presented as a body for Gaza reconstruction and peace efforts, the board’s mandate is not limited to Gaza, and its documents suggest it could evolve as an alternative or competitor to existing United Nations mechanisms.

The United States is reportedly seeking participation from several global leaders, with a $1 billion fee required for permanent membership.

The UAE, one of the few Arab countries to maintain diplomatic relations with Israel, has played a central role in regional diplomacy, and its participation in the board signals continued alignment with US-led initiatives in the Middle East.
