Rivers in Punjab flowing at normal level: NDMA

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has said that the majority of rivers are flowing at normal levels in Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

According to a spokesman of NDMA, normal flood situation is being witnessed at Khanki and Qadirabad. At Khanki, the water inflow is 125,000 cusecs, and the outflow is 117,000 cusecs. At Qadirabad, the water inflow is 146,000 cusecs, and the outflow is 127,000 cusecs.

The flow of the Chenab River is normal at Marala, Trimmu, and Panjnad. At Jastar, the water flow in the Sutlej River is normal at Ganda Singh Wala, Sulemanki, and Head Islam. Water flow in the Ravi River is normal at Jassar, Shahdara Head Sulemanki.

PDMA spokesperson said that there is a risk of rising water levels in Punjab's rivers until July 24.

Flood warnings have been issued for the tributaries and nullahs associated with the Ravi and Chenab rivers, including Basantar, Deg, Palkhu, Bhimber, Halsi, and Dora.

The spokesman said that a flash flood warning for the *Rod Kohi* (hill torrent) areas of Dera Ghazi Khan.

Director-General Umar Abbas Mela said that all basic amenities and medicines will be provided at flood relief camps.

Citizens are urged to adopt precautionary measures in view of the weather and flood situation.

Refrain from recreational activities near rivers, canals, and streams.

Take special care of children; do not allow them to bathe in rivers or streams under any circumstances.

The spokesman further stated that risk of urban flooding in the Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, Okara, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, and Rawalpindi divisions.

Residents living within the river channels must immediately relocate to safe areas.
