LHC issues detailed verdict in PCB Lahore regions case

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued a detailed verdict on a petition challenging Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to enhance the number of Lahore regions from three to five, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Earlier, the Lahore High Court declared the PCB petition inadmissible for hearing.

Justice Ahmad Nadeem Arshad heard the case filed by Sheraz Abdullah and others and later issued a five-page detailed verdict.

The petitioner stated that PCB enhanced the number of Lahore region from 3 to five and issued a notification to hold elections.

The petitioner appealed to the court to declare the PCB move as null and void. The petitioner said that all the clubs that are affiliated with the PCB are bound to hold elections after six years.

The PCB enhanced the number of regions but did not update voter lists. Now PCB is holding elections on five cricket associations of the regions as per the voters' list of 2019.

In its reply, the PCB said that an adjudicator forum is available, which can hear the petition. 

The verdict stated that the demarcation of zones was approved by the PCB Board of Governors’ meeting.

The PCB has a platform to address all the issues of clubs on its own.
