PML-N Quaid and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's initiative to attend an administrative meeting along with daughter-CM Maryam Nawaz is challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, former three-time premier's initiative was objected to by Nadeem Sarwar advocate who filed a petition in the LHC.
The petitioner argued in his petition that Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is neither a minister nor chief minister and does also not hold any administrative position in the provincial government so he cannot preside over any meeting at the administrative level.
Petitioner Nadeem Sarwar appealed the court that Nawaz Sharif should be ordered to stop attending the meetings at the administrative level.
It is worthy to mention here that the media two days back reported on March 18 that Mian Nawaz Sharif along with her daughter Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a high level meeting about transport facilities and announced several relief measures for the students besides start of hybrid bus services in major cities of the province.
As per the media report, during the meeting, PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif directed the Punjab government that 20000 electric and petrol motor bikes should be distributed among students on easy instalments.
Nawaz Sharif said that government should share financial burden of the students and pay the interests. Maryam Nawaz endorsed the suggestion and said that Punjab government will give 19,000 petrol and 1,000 electric bikes to the students free of interest.
Senior Provincial Minister Marryum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Uzma Bukhari, Transport Minister Bilal Akbar, MPA Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, Secretary Transport, Finance, Higher Education Department, Chairman PITB, Bank of Punjab president and others also attended the meeting.

Plea against flour bags bearing Nawaz Sharif's image

It is also worth menioning that the LHC has scheduled a hearing for a miscellaneous application filed against the Punjab government's decision to distribute flour bags adorned with the image of Nawaz Sharif during Ramazan.
Justice Shahid Karim is set to preside over the case brought forth by citizen Munir Ahmed, with Advocate Azhar Siddique representing the petitioner.
The petition challenges the use of Nawaz Sharif's photograph on flour bags, arguing that it constitutes a misuse of the Punjab Government's treasury for personal publicity.
The petitioner contends that such actions undermine the dignity of citizens and suggests that government funds should be channelled through initiatives like the Benazir Income Support Program instead.
