As Meghan Markle marked her and Prince Harry’s seventh wedding anniversary with a heartfelt Instagram post, fans quickly noticed a major omission.
The Duchess of Sussex shared a photo of a corkboard filled with personal moments featuring her, Harry, and their children, alongside a caption that struck an emotional tone – yet failed to name her husband.
“Seven years of marriage. A lifetime of stories. Thanks to all of you (whether by our side or from afar) who have loved and supported us throughout our love story – we appreciate you,” Meghan wrote.
The Daily Mail reports that while the post was visually packed with affection, critics were quick to point out that Meghan’s words did not include a direct mention of Prince Harry himself. The omission sparked backlash on social media, with users accusing her of turning a joint milestone into a solo celebration.
“Happy Anniversary to me! No mention of my husband. He can be in the photos with ME,” one user on X (formerly Twitter) mocked.
Another commented, “Meghan Markle just wished herself a Happy Anniversary! Who does that? Is she wishing happy anniversary to herself?”
One critic harshly quipped, “The most epic love story, Meghan Markle’s love of… Meghan Markle. Never seen a woman so obsessed with herself.”
Many were puzzled by her addressing the message to supporters rather than directly to Harry. “Wait, shouldn’t it be addressed to HARRY and not to ‘all of you… who have supported us’? Whose anniversary is it?” another user questioned.
While the post featured multiple loving photos of the couple through the years, including shots with their children, the lack of a personal nod to Harry ignited speculation about the state of their relationship.
The eagle-eyed followers also spotted an image of Meghan’s personal coat of arms in the post — a symbol created for her after the royal wedding in 2018 and approved by the late Queen Elizabeth II. Designed in collaboration with the College of Arms, the emblem celebrates her American heritage. The blue background represents the Pacific Ocean, while golden rays reflect California’s sunshine. Three quills signify communication, and the floral base includes golden poppies and wintersweet.
The couple, who tied the knot in a globally watched ceremony at Windsor Castle in 2018, have weathered numerous storms together since stepping back from royal duties.
