Pakistan, Bangladesh mark new chapter in ties as senior officials visit Islamabad

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday welcomed a delegation of senior Bangladeshi civil servants at the Foreign Office, describing the visit as a significant step toward strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the Bangladeshi delegation is visiting Pakistan for a three-week executive programme under the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor Initiative.

The spokesperson said the visit, taking place after 53 years, represents an important milestone in institutional exchanges between the two countries and reflects growing engagement at the official level.

The Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor was launched in Dhaka in August 2025 with the announcement of 500 scholarships over five years aimed at promoting educational cooperation and people-to-people contacts.

Officials said that so far 74 Bangladeshi students are pursuing higher education in Pakistan under the initiative.

During the meeting, Ishaq Dar emphasized the importance of maintaining positive momentum in Pakistan-Bangladesh relations and increasing bilateral contacts in different sectors.

The Foreign Office said the exchange programme is expected to deepen cooperation and mutual understanding between the two countries.
