170 port security officials get promotion after 24 years

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry felicitated the newly-promoted 170 officials of the Port Security Force (PSF) after 24 years, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

According to details, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry received a detailed briefing from the Chairman of Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and senior officials on the port’s operations, administration, and plans.

During his recent visit, Minister Junaid Anwar was informed about a key development made in the long-awaited promotion of KPT Employees, especially the Port Security Force (PSF) personnel who had faced career stagnation for two decades.

The Minister praised efforts to address workforce challenges, highlighting the importance of a motivated workforce for their morale and efficiency.

He lauded the transparent procedure followed for the departmental promotions of more than 300 KPT employees. He was also briefed on plans to upgrade/rebuild the Manora Workshop into a smart shipbuilding/ship repair yard. 

In this regard, proposals from various international and local investors aimed at modernizing infrastructure and improving long-term sustainability were discussed. 

He reaffirmed the GoP's commitment to reforms, infrastructure development, and workforce growth to strengthen the maritime sector and support economic progress.
