TV drama serial Bandhay Ek Dour Se ended on a surprising note for its viewers when Maheen ended up getting married to none other than Umer after their families intervened.

The latest episode begins with Roshni dropping by at Maheen’s place to get a roundup of the situation there. That’s when Maheen’s mother tells her about Umer and Maheen’s marriage. 

Shocked and devastated, she comes home and locks herself up in her room. She deems herself naïve and innocent while brands Maheen with the title of an opportunist.

Umer’s brother Mansoor asks him to accept his marriage with Maheen and put everything behind him. He goes to his room and finds out that Maheen has been crying.

He tells her he feels guilty for betraying Roshni. Upon finding out that he’s still thinking about Roshni, Maheen is absolutely heartbroken.

 

The next morning, Umer remains just as indifferent as before. He sleeps till late and refuses to step out of the room for breakfast that Maheen’s mother has brought for them as part of the tradition. 

On the other hand, Maheen’s mother asks her sister in law, Umer’s mother, if she can take Maheen home to which she refuses and says Maheen will only go to her mother’s place two days later after the valima ceremony. 

Maheen finds Umer lost in his own thoughts. Upon asking, he confesses to her about being helpless when it comes to her heart that still yearns for Roshni. He promises her he will end all contact with her, but he can’t stop thinking about her.

He realizes his words must hurt Maheen, but she denies that. Overcome with emotion; he tells her that he feels a burden on his chest for betraying Roshni’s trust. Maheen realizes Umer is still in the dark about Roshni being interested in her cousin Nabeel which is why she tells him to meet Roshni, thinking it might ease his guilt.

This 7th Sky Entertainment production continues to be a story of love, fate, and heartbreak. 

The acting remains first-rate, and so does the dialogue and background score. Instead of keeping things heavy by focusing on Umer’s heartbreak and Maheen’s angst, they add an abundance of light moments that add to the episode.

The scene where Umer’s dadi, played by an always amazing Samina Ahmed, tells Maheen about being respectful towards her husband instead of mentioning his name blatantly in front of everyone was brilliant. It relatable and funny at the same time since a majority of women in Pakistani households have heard something like that before.

It will be interesting to see what’s going to happen when Umer finally meets Roshni. 

Will he and Maheen be able to accept their new relationship and start again, or will Umer’s love for Roshni ruin their married life? We will have to wait and watch. Bandhay Ek Dour Se airs on Thursdays at 8 pm.
