The helpline established by the Punjab government for the women facing ‘harassment’ has turned out to be closed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

It has emerged that when one dials toll-free number 1043 for help, she hears audio that goes like this, “The number you are dialing is in nobody’s use.”

Women are free to call on this helpline number six days a week; from 8 in the morning to 4 in the evening.

However, women are dialing this number for the last several days only to find it not responding.

The same is the case with the other number 080093372 given to women facing harassment or violence of any kind.
