13 M-Tag points, four vehicle emission testing booths start operations in Islamabad 

The district administration of Islamabad continued its vehicle compliance drive with 13 M-Tag points and 4 vehicle emission testing booths now operational across the city, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.

According to official figures, 82,133 vehicles have been issued M-Tags so far, while 6,150 vehicles have completed emission inspections.

In the last 24 hours, authorities issued 1,817 M-Tags and carried out 408 emission inspections, reflecting the daily progress of the system.

Under the current setup, 13 M-Tag issuance points are providing registration services to vehicle owners.

These points are fully functional and are processing vehicles on a routine basis.

Alongside this, 4 emission testing booths are conducting inspections to check exhaust emissions and identify vehicles that do not meet set standards.

Official data shows that since the start of operations, 82,133 vehicles have been issued M-Tags.

These tags are being linked to vehicles to help authorities identify and monitor them through automated systems. 

At the same time, 6,150 vehicles have undergone emission inspections to assess smoke output and compliance with emission rules.

In parallel, enforcement actions against smoke-emitting vehicles are ongoing at different checkpoints across the city. 

Teams are conducting checks at multiple locations to identify vehicles producing excessive smoke. Vehicles found violating emission rules are being addressed under the existing framework.

The district administration has also confirmed that the installation of M-Tag readers is underway on various highways and major roads across Islamabad. These readers are being placed to support automated monitoring of vehicles entering and moving through key routes.

According to officials, the newly installed readers will automatically scan the M-Tag status of each passing vehicle. 

Authorities added that the combination of M-Tag issuance, emission testing, roadside checks, and automated readers is part of a coordinated approach. Daily reports are being used to review progress, identify gaps, and plan further actions.
