Customs seize 64,000 litres of smuggled Iranian fuel in Karachi

Pakistan Customs has launched a major crackdown against Iranian-smuggled petroleum, oil and lubricant products, recovering more than 64,000 litres of illicit fuel during an intelligence-based operation in Karachi, 24newsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

According to Customs officials, the operation was conducted by Customs Enforcement Karachi on the city’s Northern Bypass, where five dumping points operating under the guise of illegal petrol pumps were raided.

Large quantities of smuggled diesel and other POL products were seized during the action.

Officials said a Mazda truck used to transport and unload Iranian-smuggled diesel was also taken into custody. 

The value of the recovered POL products has been estimated at approximately Rs16.5 million, while the seized vehicle is valued at around Rs10 million.

Customs authorities said the overall value of the case exceeds Rs36.5 million, making it one of the significant seizures in recent months as part of ongoing efforts to curb fuel smuggling.

The operation was led by Assistant Collector Bismillah Noor Jatoi, who supervised the coordinated raids and seizure process. 

Customs officials said such intelligence-driven actions would continue as part of a broader strategy to disrupt smuggling networks.

Reaffirming their stance, Customs authorities said they maintain a zero-tolerance policy against smuggling and remain committed to safeguarding the national economy from losses caused by the illegal fuel trade.
