Suicide by female student at FJMU: Committee submits report to university administration

Following the recent hostel tragedy at Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU), a committee consisting of senior professors has presented its report to the university administration.

According to officials, an independent external investigation committee has been formed to ensure a transparent inquiry into the incident. The administration stated that the investigation report will be shared with the bereaved family, the government and all other concerned parties.

The university has expressed its resolve to fully cooperate with government institutions and continue necessary steps until the affected families are satisfied. The tragic incident has been described as a deep shock for the entire institution as well as the Department of Medicine, while faculty members and staff have expressed profound grief and sorrow over the death of the student.

The external investigation committee includes representatives from the departments of medicine and journalism, members of the judiciary and parents. The administration has remained in continuous contact with organizations and local representatives from Azad Kashmir in connection with the matter.

Meanwhile, delegations of young doctors and members of Islami Jamiat Talaba met the administration, which assured them of an impartial and transparent investigation.

In addition, a proposal has been put forward to name a building after the deceased student or to issue a special medal in her memory. The administration has assured that the Vice Chancellor’s proposal in this regard will be presented before the Syndicate for approval and issuance of a formal notification.
