The Lahore High Court (LHC) has dismissed a petition seeking annulment of Pakistan Medical Commission Act 2020 and Regulations, ruling that the Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) is as per law and mandatory for becoming a doctor, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justice Jawadul Hassan issued a 20-page verdict on the request of Apwa Medical College on Thursday which stated, “No private college will induct students without the MDCAT test and MCAT is absolutely legal as per the Section 18 of the Pakistan Medical Commission.”
“PMC plays the role of regulator for medical colleges and no private medical college will be allowed to charge additional fee,” the LHC verdict stated.
Advocate Salman Butt appeared on behalf of the medical college's side, the TV channel reported.
