Bail cancellation case of Faiz Hameed’s brother to be heard on Saturday
Special Judge Central adjourns proceedings on defence lawyers: Bail was earlier granted on basis of reconciliation between parties
A special court in Islamabad on Wednesday heard the application seeking the cancellation of bail granted to Najaf Hameed, the brother of former high-ranked army officer Faiz Hameed, in a fraud case.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the hearing was conducted by Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) Special Judge Central Islamabad Shah Rukh Arjumand.
During the hearing, an assisting counsel appeared on behalf of Najaf Hameed and requested the court to grant time for arguments, stating that senior counsel would present detailed submissions.
Accepting the request, the court adjourned the hearing of the case until February 24 and directed that a copy of the bail cancellation application be provided to Najaf Hameed’s legal team.
It is pertinent to note that Najaf Hameed’s bail had earlier been approved by the same court on the basis of a compromise between the parties.
Three days earlier, on January 18, the FIA’s Special Judge Central Court Islamabad had granted bail to Najaf Hameed in a fraud case.
Judge Shah Rukh Arjumand confirmed the bail through a written order, citing reconciliation between the complainant and the accused as the basis for relief.
Prior to this, Najaf Hameed had secured interim bail from a local court in Islamabad.
He is facing allegations of fraud and other charges in a case registered by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). T
he prosecution in the matter was conducted by lawyers Abdul Qadeer and Ahad Khokhar.
The bail cancellation plea will now be taken up on the next date of hearing on Saturday.
