Only 1,013 coronavirus cases reported in Pakistan
Whether it is effective government measures or some other reasons or a combination of both, the number of coronavirus cases reported officially in Pakistan are on a decline with the virus found in 1,013 people during the past 24 hours (Tuesday).
It means the total number of coronavirus cases reported in the country now stands at 266,096, shows the latest figures released by the National Command and Operation Centre on Tuesday morning.
On the other hand, the death toll has increased to 5,639 after another 40 died of the deadly virus during the same period with most of these deaths reported from Sindh.
A total of 208,030 people have so far fully recovered from the infection with the number of active cases reducing to 52,427.
Similarly, the number of critically ill patients has been declining as their number currently stands at 1,481. They are under treatment in the intensive care units of different hospitals.
Moreover, 17,783 more tests were administered on Monday, raising the overall number to 1,758,551. The government has been facing severe criticism from some circles over the reduced testing ratio.
Meanwhile, Sindh now has 2,019 recorded deaths with the number of cases reaching 113,553. The figures for the other provinces and regions are:
Punjab 2,090 deaths and 90,444 cases, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,147 deaths and 32,243 cases, Islamabad 160 deaths and 14,625 cases, Balochistan 133 deaths and 11,441 cases, Azad Kashmir 47 deaths and 1,922 cases, and Gilgit-Baltistan 43 deaths and 1,868 cases.
