PML-N for fresh elections, PPP open to all options

Although the two main opposition parties are clear on one subject, the change in the political landscape, they are not so clear how to achieve the goal with the PML-N openly calling for elections but the PPP is keeping all the windows of opportunity open.
This issue was covered by 24NewsHD TV channel in a report in which PML-N senior leader Khawaja Asif said the government should take a vote of confidence from the people, not the House.
Fresh elections should be held in the country, he said, adding that consensus could be built in the Parliament on the issue.
Similarly, Marriyum Aurangzeb, the PML-N spokesperson, described fresh elections as need of the hour but made it clear that conducting 2018-like elections would be of no use.
“We do not want an election again in which the RTS system might break down,” she remarked while pointing to the huge controversy surrounding the last general elections.
Marriyum added that the weaknesses in the electoral process should also be addressed before the fresh elections.
However, PPP Information Secretary Nafisa Shah said the decision on in-house change or elections would have to be made by political parties. The PTI government has crashed the economy, PIA and Civil Aviation Authority, she remarked.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is active in uniting the opposition and the decision would be made through consensus, Nafisa said.
