General elections will be held in Oct 2023: Khurram Dastagir

Federal Minister for Power Khurram Dastagir said Thursday while addressing a press conference in Islamabad along with State Minister for Petroleum Musaddiq Malik that the current government would complete its term and the general elections would be held in October 2023, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

“On July 17, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government conducted transparent elections. People’s vote and their opinion is important for us,” he said.

“All four narratives of Imran Khan were dashed to the ground. The narrative of X and Y has also been destroyed. Our competition is with a fascist party,” he added.

“Imran Khan’s agenda is to destroy democracy and the constitutional institutions. The economy was destroyed by Imran Khan’s false narratives,” he deplored.

The federal power minister also questioned who was supporting the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on July 17—the date for the by-elections in Punjab.

“Every time the ‘Imrani Fitnah’ raises its heads, the economy starts sinking,” he said, claiming that efforts were being made [by the government] to reduce inflation in the country.

He also maintained that the government brought the petrol prices in the country equal to the international petrol prices.

On the occasion, State Minister for Petroleum Musaddiq Malik said that Pakistan currently had 34-day stock of petrol.

He said that the rupee would also stabilise soon. “We also have reserves; energy security is also there. God willing! We will bring more improvement to the country’s economy.”
