Pakistan, Iran agree to expand cooperation in education, science and research

Pakistan and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the fields of education, science, research and higher education.

The understanding was reached during an important meeting between Federal Minister for Education Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology Dr Hossein Simaei Saraf in Islamabad.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to expand collaboration between universities, research institutions and educational centres of the two countries.

The two countries emphasised the need to enhance cooperation in teacher training, curriculum development, artificial intelligence, digital education and educational technology.

They also agreed to promote student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, academic conferences and scholarship programmes to strengthen academic ties.

Pakistan's federal education minister reiterated the government’s commitment to effectively implementing the decisions taken under the Pakistan-Iran Joint Commission regarding education and scientific cooperation.

Both sides highlighted that regular and institutionalised contacts between educational and research institutions are essential for scientific and technological advancement.

Dr Hossein Simaei Saraf appreciated the hospitality extended by the Pakistani government and expressed Iran’s resolve to further enhance educational and scientific cooperation with Pakistan.

The two countries agreed to initiate new partnerships in education, research, innovation, and modern sciences.

Reaffirming their close and historic ties, Pakistan and Iran expressed their commitment to promoting people-to-people contacts, academic exchanges, and educational cooperation for sustainable development.
