Water flow is normal in most rivers of Punjab: PDMA

Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has informed that water flow is normal in most rivers of Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday. 

According to PDMA spokesperson, however, there is low level flood situation at Kalabagh in River Indus and Khanki in River Chenab. 

Water inflow in Kalabagh is 269,000 cusecs and outflow is 262,000 cusecs. 

Water inflow in Khanki is 113,000 cusecs and outflow is 106,000 cusecs. 

Water flow is normal at Marala Trimo, Panjnad and Qadirabad in River Chenab. 

Water flow is also normal at Jasar Shahdara Head Sadhanai and Baloki in River Ravi.

Water flow is normal at Ganda Singh Wala Sulemanki and Head Islam in River Sutlej. 

Water flow in the Indus River at Tarbela, Taunsa and Chashma is at normal level.

There is a possibility of increase in the water situation in the rivers of Punjab by July 24. 

However, there is flood warning in the adjacent nallahs of the Ravi and Chenab rivers at Basantar, Dig, Palkho, Bhimber, Halsi and Dora.

There is a warning of flash flooding in the rivers of Dera Ghazi Khan. 

There is a possibility of urban flooding in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, Okara, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar and Rawalpindi divisions. 

PDMA Director General Umer Abbas Mela instructed citizens in the riverbeds should immediately move to safer places. 

Flood relief camps have been established by the Punjab government in the flood-affected areas, DG said. 

DG PDMA further said that all basic facilities and medicines will be provided in the flood relief camps. 

Citizens are requested to take precautionary measures in view of the weather and flood situation and avoid recreational activities near rivers, canals and streams. 

Take special care of children and never let them bathe in rivers and streams.
