The Punjab government on Saturday imposed Section 144 to curb hoarding oxygen gas, cylinder and other stuffs related to save lives from Covid-19.

The action was taken on the recommendations of Primary and Secondary Healthcare so that profiteering could be curbed.

Reports suggest oxygen gas, cylinders, regulators, concentrators and oxy-meters are being sold at exorbitant prices. Some clashes among people over oxygen were also reported from hospitals.

The secretary of primary and secondary healthcare said illegal practices would add to Covid-19 patients miseries so under Section 144, district administrations could deal with it.

He added that Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar was personally involved in the current health situation of the country and was closely monitoring the coronavirus outbreak in the country and the province.
