IHC upholds stay on widows’ land acquisition case

Islamabad High Court upheld the stay order of 188-kanal land acquisition notice till July 12, reported 24News HD TV channel on Monday.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard the application by two widows challenging the notice of 188-kanal land acquisition for DHA in Sihala. The court ordered the Capital Development Authority to submit a reply setting the next hearing on July 12.
The CJ remarked that under what law, the CDA had acquired the land directly. According to the decision of the Supreme Court, just the federal government housing authority and the CDA can acquire the land.
According to the petitioner, only after approval of CDA and in accordance with the master plan, the land can be acquired in the public interest.
