The Authority urged all concerned federal, provincial ministries and the departments under their control to remain on their toes and take precautionary measures in order to prevent any loss to human lives and properties as a result of deluge forecast by the meteorological department.

The departments were asked to keep all machinery, including dewatering pumps, ready to drain out rainwater from low-lying areas of the country.

Apart from that, the departments were also asked to advise residents of the areas most prone to floods to limit their movements and avoid travelling unnecessarily.

On Sunday, Skardu Deputy Commissioner tweeted: “Heavy rains continue in Deosai plains. Tourists are advised not to travel during rains from Skardu to Astore and vice versa. Night travel via Deosai is prohibited for tonight. JSR already blocked due to land sliding. Public safety is priority of GB Government.”
