Two dacoits shot dead in Lahore police encounters
Two notorious dacoits were killed in two separate police encounters in Sherakot and Heer area of Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
In the first police encounter, which took place in Sherakot, the mastermind of a dacoits gang was shot dead.
The Crime Control Department (CCD) Iqbal Town has already started a crackdown against criminals.
The dead dacoit was identified as Ali Raza. The accused was wanted by the police in more than 80 criminal cases, including vehicle snatching, robbery and dacoity.
Sources said that the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) CCD Iqbal Town, after receiving credible information, established a picket for checking in the jurisdiction of the Sherakot Police Station.
Soon after taking notice of the police, the accused started firing on the police party. During heavy exchange of firing, one dacoit was killed by the firing of his colleagues.
Later, all the accomplices of the dacoit fled away from the scene. Police started a search operation to apprehend the culprits.
In the second police encounter, which took place late Friday night in Heer area, one dacoit was killed by the firing of his colleagues of firing.
CCD sources said that the dead accused was later identified as Waqas Masih. CCD sources further revealed that the CCD team was taking the accused to the Heer area for recovery.
Suddenly, some colleagues of dacoit opened fire on the police party in a bid to free him from police custody.
Police wanted the dead accused in some serious criminal cases. Later, all the colleagues of the accused escaped from the scene during the firing.
