Inaugural session of Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly to be held tomorrow

The inaugural session of the newly elected Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly will be held on Monday at 9:00 a.m. in the Assembly Hall in Gilgit, marking the formal commencement of the legislative body's new term following the 2026 general elections.

According to the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Secretariat, the session will be presided over by Speaker Nazir Ahmed Advocate in accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, 2017.

During the session, the newly elected members of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly will take the oath of office, officially assuming their legislative responsibilities.

The Assembly Secretariat has directed all newly elected lawmakers to ensure their timely attendance at the inaugural sitting to facilitate the proceedings.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, the election for the office of the Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly is also expected to take place on the same day, paving the way for the formation of the new parliamentary leadership.
