PM Shehbaz meets Swiss FM Ignazio on sidelines of Iran-US talks

Switzerland’s Vice President and Foreign Minister, Ignazio Cassis, met Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of ongoing technical-level talks between the United States and Iran in Bergenstock, Switzerland.

During the meeting, the Swiss Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan’s role in facilitating negotiations that led to the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States. He also expressed Switzerland’s willingness to support and cooperate in the next stages of the process.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Swiss government for its engagement and said that the successful implementation of the agreement would contribute to long-term regional peace and global economic stability.

The Prime Minister also highlighted Switzerland’s continued investment in Pakistan and expressed hope that Swiss companies would further expand their presence in the country. He offered Pakistan’s expertise in information technology and cybersecurity, stating that highly trained Pakistani professionals could help meet Switzerland’s growing needs in these sectors.

Both sides discussed strengthening cooperation in multiple areas of mutual interest, including pharmaceuticals, tourism, climate change, and disaster risk reduction.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also extended an invitation to the Swiss Foreign Minister to visit Pakistan at a mutually convenient time.
