The district administration of Quetta has put a ban on public gatherings and tourists' entry into the provincial capital in view of the third wave of coronavirus, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The Quetta deputy commissioner said that action will be taken against those who do not comply with the ban. The administration has now put a ban on public gatherings and incoming tourists.

The statistics released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Sunday morning showed that with 203 new coronavirus cases in Balochistan the tally has now reached 19,327.

Earlier, students of various schools led a walk in Quetta to create awareness about the third wave of coronavirus.

Balochistan government spokesman Liaquat Shahwani had earlier said that the third wave of coronavirus has hit the country with intensity, but by the grace of God “our province is safe”.

Speaking at a press conference in Quetta on last Monday, Shahwani said the government was strictly implementing the SOPS and creating awareness about the disease.

He further said, “We have not decided about imposing smart lockdown or other restrictions so far, but will take decisions to close markets, schools and other institutions according to the situation.”
