PM Shehbaz, President Zardari laud Xi's belt and road initiative, Pak-China friendship

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, addressing a ceremony related to marking of 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan, has congratulated Chinese leadership as well as Chinese nationals on achieving this milestone in bilateral relations. 

Prime Minister Shehbaz said Pakistan was the first country to recognise China. He said in a unique example in the world, Pakistan, China friendship stood the test of time. Prime Minister said China stood by Pakistan like a rock in every difficult time be it floods or any disaster, China provided unparalleled support. He said Pakistan has always supported the One China Policy. 

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that with the passage of time, the friendship between the two countries has become stronger and stronger. 

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said CPEC was a practical manifestation of President Xi Jinping's Belt and Road Vision. 

PM Shehbaz said CPEC is important for Pakistan's economy and employment generation. He said in the current situation in the region, Pakistan is playing a role for peace. He asserted that Pak-China friendship was deeper than the sea, higher than the Himalayas and sweeter than honey. Shahbaz Sharif said, “We will pave the way for development through joint efforts.”

Addressing the ceremony, President Zardari said that friendship with China was the main pillar of Pakistan's foreign policy. President Zardari said Pakistan fully reflects the durability and strength of China-China friendship. 

He said Pakistan and China have always defended each other's core interests. Bilateral relations enjoy public, political, and institutional support, President Asif Ali Zardari added. 

He said President Xi Jinping's leadership has taken relations to unprecedented heights. “China's development, innovation, and poverty eradication are an example for the world”, said President Asif Ali Zardari.
