Bangladesh-A storm into Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 final after beating India in thriller

Bangladesh A booked their place in the final of the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 after defeating India A in a nerve-shredding Super Over finish in Doha on Friday.

The semifinal, filled with stunning twists, saw both teams locked in a dramatic tie before Bangladesh A held their nerve in the tiebreaker to secure victory.

Chasing Bangladesh A’s imposing 195-run target, India A ended at 194 for 6, forcing the match into a Super Over.

India A appeared to be in control during the chase, needing only 31 off 18 balls, but Bangladesh A’s exceptional death bowling tightened the contest. With 16 required off the final over, Ashutosh Sharma fell short.

Yet chaos erupted on the last ball when India scrambled three runs following a misfield and a wild throw from the Bangladesh captain-keeper—bringing the scores level.

In the Super Over, pacer Ripon Mondol delivered a sensational spell, dismissing two Indian batters off the first two deliveries, bowling India A out for zero.

Bangladesh A’s chase began shakily as Yasir Ali was caught at long-on on the first ball.

But a leg-side wide from Suyash Sharma to new batter Akbar Ali handed Bangladesh A the winning run—and a place in the tournament final.

Earlier, Bangladesh A’s innings exploded in the death overs.

They plundered 75 runs in the last five overs, thanks to Meherob Hossain’s unbeaten 48 off just 18 balls, following a composed 65 from Habibur Rahman.

India A bowlers Vijaykumar Vyshak and Naman Dhir were heavily punished, conceding 22 and 28 runs respectively in the final two overs.

India A had elected to bowl first after winning the toss.

Despite boasting top performers like Vaibhav Suryavanshi—second-highest run-scorer of the tournament with 201 runs—their batting unit once again failed to deliver collectively. Their bowling, led by wicket-leader Gurjapneet Singh along with Harsh Dubey and Suyash Sharma, remained consistent but couldn’t contain Bangladesh A’s late onslaught.

India A reached the semifinals after wins over UAE and Oman, despite a setback against Pakistan.

Bangladesh A topped Group A with emphatic victories against Hong Kong and Afghanistan before losing to Sri Lanka.
