Insulin shortage in Lahore teaching hospitals makes patients' life miserable

Public sector teaching hospitals are facing a severe shortage of 70/30 insulin in Lahore, leaving hundreds of diabetic patients in distress. 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.

The essential medication, used widely by diabetes patients, has reportedly been unavailable for several months.

According to hospital sources, public-sector teaching hospitals have run out of 70/30 insulin, forcing patients to go from one facility to another in search of their daily doses.

Many patients dependent on the insulin mixture have been left in a painful and vulnerable condition due to the sudden unavailability.

Families of patients said they are struggling to manage sugar levels without the prescribed insulin.

At the same time, those who rely on free supplies from government hospitals are unable to afford the rising cost of purchasing them from private pharmacies.

Despite the worsening situation, the Specialized Healthcare Department of Punjab has yet to take effective measures to resolve the shortage, inviting criticism from patients and their attendants.

Doctors have warned that prolonged interruptions in insulin usage can lead to serious health complications.

They urged authorities to ensure an immediate and uninterrupted supply of 70/30 insulin to all government hospitals.
