Protection of fundamental rights top priority, says FCC CJ Aminuddin
Pledges integrity, impartiality, transparency in court rulings for constitutional supremacy in country: Says newly formed court seen as a milestone in Pakistan’s constitutional evolution
Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan of the newly established Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) delivered his first message on Friday, declaring that the protection of fundamental rights will be the court’s foremost priority.
The 24NewsHD TV channel reported that the FCC chief justice assured the nation that all constitutional interpretation undertaken by the court will be guided by transparency, freedom and integrity.
Describing the formation of the court as a significant milestone in Pakistan’s ongoing constitutional journey, the Chief Justice said the institution has been entrusted with an important and sensitive responsibility.
Justice Aminuddin emphasised that the Constitutional Court’s role extends beyond adjudication, calling it a sacred trust that directly affects the lives, liberties, and aspirations of citizens.
He noted that the court’s creation reflects a renewed national commitment to the enduring promise of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
As the court begins its institutional path, he expressed determination to build a judicial forum that exemplifies impartiality, integrity and intellectual insight.
The Chief Justice pledged that every case brought before the constitutional court will be approached with fairness and caution, firmly grounded in constitutional supremacy and the principles of justice.
Chief Justice Aminuddin said the court aims to cultivate a judicial tradition rooted in reasoned decisions, institutional dignity and public confidence, qualities he described as essential for any constitutional court.
Reflecting on his role as the first Chief Justice of the FCC, Justice Aminuddin said he regarded the position as an honour and an opportunity to help shape the foundations of a new institution.
He expressed his hope that the court will become a guardian of constitutional supremacy in Pakistan.
Concluding his message, he prayed that the court remain a lasting symbol of justice for future generations and sought divine guidance to carry out its duties with wisdom, humility and steadfast commitment to the Constitution.
