Shan Masood had been out of action since early 2021 but had been returned to the Pakistan T20 team and selected for the T20 World Cup 2022 squad.
Shan Masood, who is best known as a specialist test opener, had returned to the T20 team as a middle-order batsman as a result of his outstanding performance in all three formats this year, including the Pakistan Super League, the National T20 Championship, and the Vitality Blast in England, where he scored 547 runs at an average of 45.58 and a strike rate of almost 140.
For Multan Sultans, Shan Masood had a fantastic PSL 2022 season, scoring 478 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 138.15. In the National T20 Cup recently, Masood scored 204 runs in eight innings with a strike rate of 129.93. More significantly, these runs came in the middle order, which is now Pakistan’s trouble spot.
On October 23, Pakistan and India will square off in the opening encounter of the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2022 at Melbourne Cricket Ground. In the competition, Pakistan is a member of group 2, which includes Bangladesh, South Africa and India.
When the two sides last faced off, in the 2021 T20I World Cup, Pakistan defeated their arch-rivals by ten wickets in their Super 12 game in Dubai, the first-ever win against their neighbour in a World Cup match.
