The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Sunday conducted a successful raid in Peshawar and arrested a man allegedly involved in hacking social media data, reported 24NewsHD TV.
According to officials, the operation was carried out at the request of the Iraqi Embassy.
The accused, Mustafa Khan a resident of Peshawar was arrested near the Pak-Afghan border. The accused was trying to flee the country.
The official said that the social media and WhatsApp accounts of an Iraqi family were hacked and personal data was obtained.
The accused issued serious threats of murder and warned of making the family’s personal data public if ransom was not paid.
Authorities further said that a fake account was created in the name of a minor girl, and sensitive information was shared through it.
A case has been registered against Mustafa Khan and further investigation is underway.
