664 candidates from 24 constituencies for GB elections submit nomination papers

A total of 664 candidates from 24 constituencies have submitted nomination papers for the Gilgit-Baltistan General Elections 2026, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
According to details, 34 candidates from Gilgit Constituency 1, 58 from Constituency 2 and 32 from Constituency 3 will contest the election on June 7. 
Moreover, 38 candidates from Nagar 1 and 30 candidates from Nagar 2 will face each other in the elections. 
Similarly, 38 candidates from Hunza's only constituency will try their political luck while 33 candidates from Skardu 1, 23 from Skardu 2, 18 from Skardu 3 and 25 from Skardu 4 will contest. 
As many as 21 candidates from Kharmang and 19 from Shigar district have submitted their nomination papers while 15 candidates from Ganche 1, 29 from Ganche 2 and 15 from Ganche 3 have submitted their nomination papers.
Further, 19 from Astor 1 while 57 candidates from Astor 2 will contest while 29 from Diamer 1, 15 from Diamer 2, 14 from Diamer 3 and 11 from Diamer 4 are in the fray.
From Ghizer 1, 20, 42 from Ghizer 2 and 25 from Ghizer 3 have filed their nomination papers.
Gilgat 2 will have the highest number of 58 candidates.
Diamer 4 will have the lowest number of 11 candidates participating in the election contest.

According to the channel report, the Election Commission has also called an all-party conference for the Gilgit-Baltistan elections tomorrow at 11 am. The election commission will hold consultations on the election code of conduct and election matters.
