Motorway closed at three points in Punjab due to fog

Several areas in Punjab are engulfed in dense fog today shutting many sections of the motorway due to low visibility, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.


The sections of the motorway which have been closed include: M-11 from Lahore to Sialkot, M-2 from Lahore to Kot Momin, and M-3 from Faizpur to Nankana,


The motorway police advised motorists to avoid unnecessary travel in foggy conditions.


Lahore ranks fourth in most polluted city


Meanwhile, Lahore ranked fourth in the list of the most polluted cities of the world with its AQ level recorded at 230.


The maximum temperature of the city will remain 21C and minimum 6C. The weather will remain misty and humidity has been recorded at 87%.


There is no chance of rain for the next 24 hours.


Overall weather


Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, while there are chances of light rain (light snowfall over mountains) in Kashmir, Pothohar region, Murree, Galliyat, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during evening night.


Fog/smog is likely to persist in upper Sindh, plain areas of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa during morning and night hours.


Past 24-hour weather


Cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country, while very cold in northern areas.


Today\'s Recorded Minimum Temperatures (°C): Leh -10, Skardu -07, Gilgit -06, Astore, Kalat, Gupis -05 and Kalam -04.
