A prime accused in the murder case of schoolgirl Nagina Chandio — a ninth-grade student — was arrested in wounded condition after an encounter with Dadu police on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The accused, Shaukat Channa, was involved in abducting and murdering the schoolgirl.

SSP Irfan Ali Sammo said that the local police nabbed Channa after a raid was conducted to arrest her. The suspect opened fire on the police party and tried to flee from the scene but was eventually arrested, the SSP added.

The Dadu police have recovered a pistol and bullets from the accused’s possession.

Shaukat Chandio had killed the ninth-grade student last month whose body was found from the fields.

Police said the accused trapped the girl and took her to a house in Balochistan.

An FIR was lodged on the complaint of the victim’s father Master Roshan Chandio.

Police said that the co-accused Mehtab Chandio was arrested two days ago who had confessed to his crime.
