Accused killed during Lahore police encounter

An under-custody accused was killed by the firing of his accomplices during an encounter with police in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Sunday.

According to details, a Crime Control Department (CCD) team was taking the accused Zain for recovery when suddenly some of his accomplices attacked the police team.

During heavy exchange of fire, the accused Zain died after receiving severe bullet wounds. All the accomplices of the accused escaped from the scene, taking advantage of the darkness

CCD police said that the dead accused was involved in some serious criminal cases.

Earlier on Saturday, the Crime Control Department (CCD), Punjab, said a comparative review of crime data for the post-May period of 2024 and 2025 showed a significant reduction in crime across Punjab, particularly in Lahore.

According to the CCD, the department commenced operations in Punjab in May last year and held a meeting to review its performance in crime control.

It stated that the provincial capital, Lahore, recorded some of the most pronounced crime reductions in its history.
