PTA introduces Mobile Tariff Regulations 2025 to curb unauthorized deductions

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has enforced the Mobile Tariff Regulations 2025, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday. 

Under the newly implemented regulations, all mobile network operators are now required to obtain prior approval from the PTA before launching any new package or making changes to existing tariff plans.

The move is aimed at ensuring greater transparency and preventing arbitrary pricing adjustments that may adversely affect consumers.

While operators will continue to determine tariffs on commercial and competitive grounds, the regulator has made it clear that it retains full authority to intervene if any pricing structure is found to be against consumer interests.

In a separate directive aimed at consumer protection, the PTA has mandated that all mobile operators must obtain clear and prior consent from customers before activating any value-added services (VAS). This measure directly addresses longstanding complaints regarding unauthorized subscriptions and unexpected balance deductions.

 Consumers have also been advised to regularly review their active subscriptions through their respective operators’ official mobile applications to ensure greater control over their accounts.
