Foreign funding case will be taken up after Nawaz return: Babar

Adviser to Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan has desired that the foreign funding case should be taken up after ex-PM Nawaz Sharif’s returns from exile. Nawaz Sharif is currently in London on the pretext of his treatment.
The PM Adviser questioned as to why the parties hide the details of foreign funding. Babar called upon the Election Commission to summon heads of all the political parties.
However, he did not qualify his statement under what rule should such a proposed arrangement be made. There is no such legal mechanism under which disqualified person be treated as party head. The leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) is Mian Shahbaz Sharif holding the office of the President.
This demand of the PTI leader is seen as both illegal and illogical by the political circles and the legal community. It is believed that such issue is being raised to further delay the proceedings of the election commission where the application of former PTI founder member Akbar S Babar is pending decision for well over five years.
Babar Awan also said investigations over the Broadsheet issue must be carried out concerning the acquisition of the firm’s services during former president Pervez Musharraf’s regime and to find out how the contract with that firm was cancelled.
He stressed that it should also be explored as to what are NRO-I and NRO-II.
