Government engineers have announced they will part take in a protest planned by a union of government employees in front of the parliament on February 10.
The Federal Association of Government Engineers contacted the All Government Employees Grand Alliance and announced joining the protest in the federal capital.
Union leader Rehman Bajwa said the government employees of all grades are one for the cause.
Earlier, the staff had a plan to hold a demonstration in March but the core committee decided to go on protest on 10th of the next month.
Reportedly the leadership of an 11-party alliance of opposition, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), contacted the protesting staff. But they refused, say: “Our agenda is apolitical and we are raising voice for our service rights.”
In October, thousands of government employees took to the streets in the federal capital against price hike and ‘anti-employee policies.’ They demanded an increase in salaries and allowances keeping in view price hikes, end to downsizing and privatisation of government-owned entities.
