Pakistan’s active coronavirus cases are now below 52,000

The number of officially confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan increased to 267,427 after another 1,332 people were diagnosed with the infection during the past 24 hours (Tuesday).
On the other hand, there are 51,283 active cases in the country which represents the fact the pandemic is being contained effectively. This reduction in the number of active cases came as 210,468 people have far managed recover from the infection induced by the coronavirus.
However, 1,436 patients are still in a critical condition and being treated in the intensive care units of different hospitals across the country, shows the figures released by National Command and Operation Centre on Tuesday morning.
As far as testing is concerned, another 18,331 tests were conducted during the last 24 hours, raising the overall number to 1,776,882.
Meanwhile, the death toll climbed to 5,677 as 38 people died of the virus on Wednesday in different parts of the county.
Punjab tops the list with 2,095 deaths followed by Sindh 2,041, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,153, Islamabad 161, Balochistan 135, Azad Kashmir 47 and Gilgit-Baltistan 45.
But it is Sindh where the most number of cases has so far been reported. The number of infections recorded officially in the province currently stands at 114,104.
The updated figures for the other provinces and regions are: Punjab 90,816, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 32,523, Islamabad 14,701, Balochistan 11,469, Azad Kashmir 1,937 and Gilgit-Baltistan 1,878.
