Punjab Home Minister Attaullah Tarar has sent a legal notice for defamation to three MPAs of PTI and former federal information minister Fawad Ch over horse-trading allegations, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

Through his counsel Azhar Iqbal, the minister sent the notice under section 8 of the Defamation Ordinance 2002, seeking apology within 14 days to avert further legal proceedings.

MPAs Shahabuddin Mohammad Amir Inayat and Ghazanfar Abbas gave affidavits based on false allegations of offering money in return for the Chief Minister's vote, the counsel said. 

He continued: “Shameful and baseless allegations were levelled against my client. 

And through this act, there was a deliberate attempt to damage the reputation of my client.” 

My client Attaullah Tarar is a strong supporter of a free and fair election.”

Like other PTI leaders, Fawad Ch has been engaged in a defamation drive against rival parties for being involved in hoarse-tradign.

He raised the demand for the arrest of key leaders of rival parties includingAttaullah Tarar. In response, the Punjab home minister came down hard on the former federal minister. Denying any wrongdoing, he stressed: "I swear by Quran no money was given to Masood but I ask Fawad Ch to do the same if he thinks otherwise.”
