Coldplay kiss cam: Kristin Cabot ‘took $1.6m mortgage with husband four months ago’
Kristin Cabot, the HR executive at the centre of the viral Coldplay kiss cam scandal, took out a $1.6 million mortgage earlier this year on a New Hampshire coastal mansion she purchased with her husband, The US Sun reports.
The moment that sparked the internet storm showed tech CEO Andy Byron, then head of Astronomer, embracing Cabot during a romantic Coldplay concert segment, as the two appeared on the venue’s jumbotron.
The clip, which quickly racked up millions of views on TikTok, led to both being reportedly placed on leave and Byron later resigned.
Despite appearing cozy with Byron in the now-infamous footage, according to The US Sun, show Kristin remains financially tied to her husband.
The couple took out a multi-million dollar loan with Morgan Stanley in March to purchase a $2.2 million “fixer-upper” in New Hampshire, just two miles from the beach.
Their four-bedroom, two-bath “New England gem” is in need of renovation and was sold “as is.” The 1.42-acre property boasts high ceilings, a wraparound porch, a walk-up attic, fruit trees, and pastoral views, but the current scandal could complicate any financial plans.
Divorce rumours now loom large, but legal experts warn the couple’s joint mortgage could lead to messy proceedings, especially if the home is refinanced, sold, or disputed in court. The Cabots have not been seen publicly since the scandal erupted.
Kristin, who previously served on the Privateer Rum advisory board, married into one of Boston’s most elite “Brahmin” families.
The Cabot lineage stretches back ten generations, known for their roles in shipping, chemicals, and industrial development, placing them among America’s old-money aristocracy.
While Kristin finalised a previous divorce in 2022, this appears to be her second marriage, according to The New York Post. Her now-viral Coldplay moment with Byron, who is also married, has turned a startup HR issue into a full-blown internet drama nicknamed #ColdplayGate.
Meanwhile, Byron’s wife Megan has reportedly fled the family’s Massachusetts home and taken refuge at a second property in Maine.
She’s said to have scrubbed her Facebook of happy family photos and reverted to her maiden name.
As the scandal trended on social media, even Coldplay frontman Chris Martin made a subtle reference during a show, joking, “They’re either having an affair… or they’re very shy,” clearly unaware of the unfolding drama.
