Prince William and Harry’s cousin Rosie Roche found dead at 20 with firearm nearby

Rosie Roche, a cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry, has tragically been found dead at the age of 20 at her family’s home in Norton, Wiltshire.

The Durham University student, who was studying English Literature, was discovered by her mother Pippa and sister Agatha while she was reportedly packing for a trip with friends. A firearm was found near her body, an inquest heard.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on the afternoon of July 14, including an ambulance, firearms officers, and multiple local responders. Authorities have ruled out any third-party involvement, deeming the death non-suspicious.

Rosie was the eldest daughter of Hugh and Pippa Roche and had two siblings, Archie and Agatha. Her family paid tribute, describing her as a “darling daughter” and “incredible sister.” A statement added, “She will be sorely missed.”

The tragedy echoes a past family loss -- Rosie’s grandfather, Edmund Roche, the 5th Baron Fermoy and uncle of Princess Diana, also died by suicide in 1984.

An inquest into Rosie’s death was opened at Wiltshire and Swindon Coroner’s Court and adjourned until October 25.

A family notice published in The Times and Yorkshire Post read: “Roche, Rosie Jeanne Burke. Died on Monday 14th July 2025. Darling daughter of Hugh and Pippa, incredible sister to Archie and Agatha, granddaughter to Derek and Rae Long. Private family funeral. A memorial service will be held at a later date.”

Prince William has declined to comment on the incident.
